Shakujii Park is located in Nerima Ward, Tokyo, where the nature of Musashino still remains, centering on two ponds, Sanboji Pond and Shakuji Pond.

The park has made our list of the best cherry blossom spots in Tokyo and is especially popular for viewing cherry blossoms next to the water.

Around 170 Someiyoshino cherry trees and 70 yamazakura cherry trees are planted around the northern plateau of Sanboji Pond, which is surrounded by trees and has a tranquil atmosphere, and together with 140 kobushi cherry trees, they bloom beautifully.

Even after the cherry blossoms are over, visitors can enjoy the kakitsubata and water lilies that add color to the surface of the water.

Beautiful cherry trees are planted along the surface of Shakujii Pond, which can be enjoyed by boat, so you can also enjoy the cherry blossoms from inside the pond from a boat or from “Nakanoshima,” a floating island in the center of the pond.

There are also ruins of Shakujii Castle and “Numazawa Plant Community,” which is designated as a national natural monument, making this park an attractive place for families and friends to stroll together.

There is also a museum of picture book author Chihiro Iwasaki in the vicinity.
