Located in the southern part of Tachikawa City, the Negawa Greenway was created by repairing the Negawa River that flows under the Aoyanagi Cliff Line, and is one of the best cherry blossom viewing spots in Tachikawa City.
The greenway is about 1.3 km long, with a width of 2 to 3 m. The road is lined with 250 cherry trees, mostly mountain cherry trees upstream and someiyoshino cherry trees planted downstream to commemorate the accession of Emperor Taisho to the throne of Japan.
It is recommended to start from the entrance at the west end of the greenway where it intersects with the Zanbori River Trail, and a leisurely stroll from the spring entrance there is enjoyable.
It is a waterfront trail that is part creek, part park, and part footpath, so it is perfect for a family hike or simply a stroll. Birds such as little egrets and other birds can also be seen along the greenway.
In the neighborhood, there are also Kunitachi City Sakura Street and Daigaku Street to the northeast of the greenway from west to east, so you can enjoy a walking course filled with cherry blossoms from Tachikawa to Kunitachi.
