This is a memorial museum for Higuchi Ichiyo, famous for works such as Takekurabe and her portrait on the new 5,000 yen note.
It is located in Ryusenji-cho, where Ichiyo lived and where Takekurabe was set.
At the Ichiyo Memorial Museum, you can learn about Ichiyo’s life through the manuscripts of her first novel “Yami Zakura” (Dark Cherry Blossom) and “Takekurabe”.
