The Lake Tama Bicycle Path is a bicycle path that starts near the Sekimae 5-chome intersection in Musashino City and extends approximately 10 km toward Lake Tama and 12 km around Lake Tama. Its official name is “Tokyo Metropolitan Road No. 253 Hoya Sayama Nature Park Bicycle Path Route.
The bicycle path is completely separated from the motorway and can be ridden comfortably. However, there are quite a few pedestrians on the road and it intersects with a residential road, so there are vehicle stops each time you pass by.
It is best to enjoy the bike path slowly and not to drive too fast. In this sense, it is a good bike path for families. The road is interrupted near Kodaira Station on the way to the station, but other than that, it is an almost straight bicycle path surrounded by trees.
It is a pleasant place to cycle through cherry blossoms, autumn leaves, and fallen leaves, depending on the season. The area around Lake Tama is easy to cycle because there are few pedestrians, but you cannot see Lake Tama very well, so it would be better to take a break and cycle towards the area where you can see Lake Tama on the way.
Bicycle rental shops are scattered in front of Seibu-Yuenchi Station and at Kodaira Station on the way to the park. We recommend that you check the latest information on bicycle rentals before you go.
From the nearest station, it is about a 15-minute walk south from Tanashi Station on the Seibu Shinjuku Line to the Monzen 5-chome intersection, which is the starting point of the tour.
On the Lake Tama side, it is a short walk from “Seibu-Yuenchi Station” on the Seibu-Tamako Line. Parking is available at the Seibu Amusement Park parking lot.
