The Shinbashi Christmas Illumination at Shinbashi Station SL Square in Minato-ku, Tokyo is an illumination held during winter at Shimbashi Station SL Plaza, known as a meeting place at the west exit of JR Shimbashi Station.

Illumination” is an illumination that takes place during the winter season at Shinbashi Station SL Plaza, known as a meeting place at the west exit of JR Shinbashi Station.

The main attraction of the plaza, a real SL No. C11292, is decorated with approximately 20,000 LEDs. The normally black car body of the SL is dressed up to look like a beautiful train from a dream world or Silver Railroad 999, giving it an indescribably elegant and wonderful appearance.

In addition, original background music inspired by Christmas in Shinbashi is played around the illumination, so you can enjoy not only the sight but also the sound of the “Shinbashi Christmas Illumination” by blending into the world of the illumination.

Also, during this illumination period, if you look closely at the driver’s seat of the SL, you will see Santa Claus sitting there. It is also fun to see the smiling Santa Claus only then. It is good to enjoy the powerful SL and its illumination right in front of you, but it is also recommended to view it from a little distance from a high position.

The unique feeling of something floating in the air, as if it is about to run, will give you a sense of power and style that only a real SL can give you. The festival will be held from November 21 to January 5, 2013 (Saturday). Lighting hours are from 17:00 to 23:00 daily.
