Taiwan Festa, the largest Taiwanese event in Japan, will once again light up Yoyogi Park this summer. Spanning the dates of July 28th, 29th, and 30th, Taiwan Festa 2023 presents an opportunity to immerse yourself in Taiwan’s rich culture without leaving Tokyo’s city limits.

Under the theme “Enjoy. TAIWAN,” the festival offers three days of tantalizing Taiwanese cuisine, festive activities, and cultural performances.

Daytime Activities

Start your day at Taiwan Festa 2023 by participating in “Taiwan Festa Exercises”. Much like how Japanese school children participate in daily radio calisthenics, these exercises are a staple for Taiwanese students.

After your morning workout, you’ll be treated to a typical Taiwanese breakfast of doujiang (soy milk) and danbing (Taiwanese egg pancakes).

Evening Extravaganza

As evening approaches, immerse yourself in the excitement of a traditional dance performed by Taiwan’s indigenous people. Better yet, join in. The simple steps, reminiscent of Japan’s Bon Odori (Bon Dance), offer a unique experience with a nostalgic touch. Don’t miss the chance to admire the colorful traditional costumes worn by the dancers.

The Night Market

Once the daylight fades, the vibrant glow of countless red lanterns transforms the park into a Taiwanese night market. Here, you’ll find authentic Taiwanese dishes like luroufan (braised pork rice), xiaolongbao (soup dumplings), and daikon cake. This bustling night market also offers an array of Taiwanese trinkets and mementos for you to take home.
