Another great place to see the cherry blossoms near Tokyo Station is at Tokiwa Bridge Park, a small, triangular park located on the other side of the street in front of the Bank of Japan Head Office on Tokiwa-bashi Bridge between Otemachi, Chiyoda-ku and Nihonbashi Hongokucho, Chuo-ku.
The ruins of the Tokiwanbashi Gate, which served as the main entrance to Edo Castle, are protected as a historic site under the Law for the Protection of Cultural Properties, and a bronze statue of Eiichi Shibusawa, who devoted himself to this purpose, stands here.
The weeping cherry trees are blooming beautifully in such a precious place, and it is an oasis in the city away from the hustle and bustle of modern life.
During the Tokiwa-bashi Park Cherry Blossom Festival, the weeping cherry trees are lit up and look different from their daytime appearance, and you can also enjoy a cherry blossom cruise departing from the nearby Tokiwa-bashi Disaster Prevention Boat Terminal.
Nearby are Mitsukoshi Department Store in Nihonbashi and Tokyo Station, which are ideal for touring historical buildings.
