Shibuya, a district synonymous with Tokyo’s vibrant urban landscape, has a new gem added to its bustling skyline. The Shibuya Sky has recently announced the temporary reopening of its loftiest offering: THE ROOF SHIBUYA SKY.
In action from April 28 to November 30, 2023, and with its transcendent views, bespoke beers, and music, the Shibuya Sky rooftop bar is undoubtedly a rarefied experience you won’t want to miss.
The Bar in the Clouds
THE ROOF SHIBUYA SKY, nestled within the SKY STAGE viewing platform of Shibuya Scramble Square, is perched on the 14th, 45th, 46th floors, and the rooftop. As you sip your drinks and savor your snacks on the plush sofas or standing tables, you will be surrounded by a panoramic view of Tokyo’s towering buildings.
The 2023 season kicks off on Shibuya Day, right before Golden Week, making it a perfect start to your summer celebrations.
Brews with a View
This year, THE ROOF SHIBUYA SKY takes the party a notch higher with its two types of original craft beers. Brewed in collaboration with the urban brewery “Y.Y.G. Brewery” in Yoyogi, Shibuya Ward, these unique beers cannot be tasted anywhere else.
Harmony in High Places
The rooftop bar enhances its atmospheric charm with the introduction of its original playlist — “THE ROOF MIX”. The curated music, tuned to the concept of “crafting the Tokyo nightscape,” is set to enliven your time spent in this special space.
The inaugural playlist from April 28 has been curated by Daito Manabe, a leading artist, programmer, and DJ from Rhizomatiks. Together with the stunning view and the delightful drinks, the harmonious music creates a uniquely captivating ambiance at “THE ROOF SHIBUYA SKY”.

THE ROOF’s Original Brews
The Roof Shibuya Sky bar has taken the craft beer movement to a whole new level with their original beers brewed in collaboration with Y.Y.G. Brewery, a city-based brewery located near Yoyogi in Shibuya ward, Tokyo. They have two new brews that are as inspired as the panoramic views the bar offers.
Angel’s Ladder-Hazy Session IPA
The Angel’s Ladder Hazy Session IPA is a beer you can’t miss. With its name taken from the imagery of sun rays piercing the cloud, it promises an uplifting experience. This original brew uses five types of hops for a light-bodied IPA, producing a tropical and fruity taste that’s perfect for lounging under Shibuya’s blue sky.
Magic Hour-Pale Ale
To recreate the magical hour when the sky changes its colors, there’s the Magic Hour Pale Ale. This citrusy pale ale, brewed with butterfly pea flowers, surprises patrons with its color-changing property. When you add a squeeze of lemon, the beer transforms from a unique purple to a sunset-like amber hue. Both the visual and taste sensations of this special beer are twice as enjoyable. It’s a limited-time offer available only in 2023 at “The Roof Shibuya Sky”.
The collaboration brewery, Y.Y.G. Brewery, has its microbrewery in Tokyo near Yoyogi and a brewing facility in Chiba City. Their goal is to provide a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of city life through their beers. With a focus on creating uniquely crafted beers that exhibit a delicate balance of flavors that can be savored until the last drop, Y.Y.G. ensures a memorable beer experience at “The Roof Shibuya Sky”.
