The Imado shrine is located in Imado, Taito Ward, the birthplace of beckoning cats, northward along the Sumida River from Asakusa. It is also known for enshrining Fukurokuju, a member of the Asakusa Famous Seven Gods of Good Luck Association.
The enshrined deity is believed to be good luck for marriage, longevity in military affairs, protection from bad luck, and safety in the home.
On New Year’s Day, a New Year’s Day ceremony is held. The shrine is especially crowded with people buying good luck charms and omikuji (omikuji, a written oracle fortune) related to marriage. The nearest station is JR Asakusa Station, about a 15-minute walk away. In addition to the Toei Bus, the Asakusa Circulation Free Panda Bus is also conveniently available.
No parking is available, so we recommend that you use public transportation or pay parking in the neighborhood.
