Ushitenjin Kitano Shrine is located in Kasuga, Bunkyo-ku, adjacent to the southwest side of Chuo University. It is beilived that if you stroke the stone, your wish will come true.
The Ota Shrine and Takagi Shrine are also enshrined in the precincts of the shrine, and are believed to bring good luck in the performing arts.
The shrine is dedicated to Sugawara no Michizane. The deity is enshrined at Ota Shrine and Takagi Shrine, both of which offer blessings such as prayers for success in school, the attainment of the mind’s eye, the fulfillment of academic goals, and the prevention of bad luck.
During the New Year’s visit, a New Year’s Day Festival is held, and from midnight on January 1, a limited number of 1,000 Kitano red plum sweets are served, along with amazake (sweet sake) and tonjiru (pork miso soup).
It is a 10-minute walk from Korakuen and Kasuga subway stations, and a 10-minute walk from JR Iidabashi station.
Parking is not available, so public transportation or nearby parking is recommended.
