Tatekawa Kasenjiki Park in Koto-ku, Tokyo, is a park under the elevated Metropolitan Expressway Route 7, developed under the theme of “a plaza for ward residents.
The park extends from east to west under the elevated Metropolitan Expressway Route 7, covering an area of approximately 5.28 hectares, with a total length of approximately 2.1 km.
It has a gate ball field, a health field with playground equipment, and a putting golf course where visitors can play a full-scale 9-hole game for free.
There are also two ball game fields. The park is used by local residents as a place where they can easily exercise, but because it is located under an elevated railway line, it is also used as a place to play golf.
It is also known as a convenient park during the rain because it is located under elevated railway tracks and can offer shelter.
The park also has a canoe and kayak area, where equipment can be rented for a fee, so even inexperienced canoeists and kayakers can easily try out the canoe and kayak facilities.
Next to the canoe/kayak area, there is an athletic field on the water that can be used free of charge, and anyone of elementary school age and older is welcome to use it.
The park is still being developed little by little, and there are still issues to be resolved between the people who use the park and the government.
If the park is completed as a park that can coexist with local people in the future, it will become even more enjoyable and accessible than it is now.
From Kameido Station on the JR Sobu Line, take Meiji-dori Avenue south and walk about 10 minutes, or from Nishi Oshima Station on the Toei Shinjuku Line, take Meiji-dori Avenue north and walk about 15 minutes.
