The wait is over for sweet potato lovers with the Summer Sweet Potato Expo taking place at Shinjuku Sumitomo Building Triangle Square in Tokyo From August 17 to August 20, 2023.
This Imo Expo brings together sweet potato producers, sellers, and buyers, turning it into a haven for sweet potato enthusiasts.
Discovering the All-Season Sweet Potato
While sweet potatoes were traditionally harvested and enjoyed during the fall and winter seasons, advancements in cultivation and preservation have made this tasty root vegetable a year-round treat. Now, you can enjoy delicious roasted sweet potatoes even in summer.
This year’s Sweet Potato Fair is hosting 24 handpicked vendors from across the country. The line-up features a mix of regulars that take part in the winter fair as well as newcomers making their first appearances at a national event.
Night Sessions
In an exciting twist, this year’s Sweet Potato Fair introduces the Night Sweet Potato Fair from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. It’s an opportunity to enjoy your sweet potatoes with approximately 30 types of unlimited sake and shochu for two hours. To complement your drinks, each roasted sweet potato store will also sell a special night-only menu.
Tickets for the “Summer Sweet Potato Fair 2023” will go on sale from July 1 (Saturday).

Ticket Pricing
Admission is free for children under primary school age. The ticket price varies depending on the time frame, and all tickets allow re-entry. Early bird tickets (9:30-12:00) cost 1,500 yen and are limited to 150 tickets per day.
The Night Sweet Potato Fair tickets come with an original cooler bag but are not available to those under 20 years old.
