Otome Road (Maiden Road) is the street Name of the west side of Sunshine 60. It is known as a mecca for Female Otoku because there are many “Otome-kei” stores that sell anime goods and fan magazines for women.
The Name is said to have come from the manga information magazine “Pafu” (published by Zososha) because of the large number of female customers.
The area around the street in front of Sunshine City is home to a variety of specialty anime and game stores such as Animate and Shinban Ikebukuro, butler cafes, otome cafes staffed by women in men’s clothing, and shops specializing in women’s doujinshi (fanzines).
