Hikarigaoka Park in Nerima Ward (and partly Itabashi Ward)is rich in nature, has a number of sports facilities, and is one of the best places in Tokyo to see the cherry blossom and have a hanami Party.
It made our mega list of the 66 best cherry blossom spots in Tokyo and is a great choice if you want some more space to enjoy your Sakura party and viewing and there are some great lawned areas perfect to lay down your picnic blanket.
The total area of the park is approximately 60 hectares, of which more than one-tenth, or 6 hectares, is a vast lawn with approximately 1,100 Someiyoshino and yamazakura cherry trees planted.
The weeping cherry trees are also famous for their beauty, although in smaller numbers.
Enjoying cherry blossom viewing on the spacious lawn is fun for a family picnic, and it is also a great place to rest and relax after working up a sweat at one of the park’s many sports facilities.
In addition to the lawn, the cherry trees lining the park are also beautiful, and cherry trees are also planted around the perimeter of the park.
The promenade along the perimeter, especially on the southwest side, is especially beautiful and is a hidden hanami spot. In the surrounding area, Toshimaen Park (now closed) was located to the south, so this park is also a good place to relax after a day of fun.
