Shiroyama Park in Inagi City, Tokyo, is located in Koyodai, and was created by utilizing the natural forest in Musashino. Walking paths have been developed through the natural forest, and the park is used by local residents as a walking course and a place for health and fitness.
On top of the mountain in the park is an observatory called the “Fine Tower,” which offers a panoramic view of the city center during the day when the weather is clear, and at night is a popular night view spot.
The park also has a wildflower garden maintained by the Daimaru Wild Plant Society, where rare wildflowers can be seen. In spring, the park is known as a cherry blossom viewing spot, and visitors can enjoy forest bathing on the walking trails in the natural forest.
In summer, the area is also used as a summer resort where the temperature is a few degrees cooler than in the city. Other facilities include the Inagi City Library, which boasts a collection of 360,000 books, the Shiroyama Hands-on Learning Center, which has a workshop and learning room, and two tennis courts with hard courts and lighting facilities (700 yen per court for two hours). *Tennis court reservations are made by applying for a lottery on the third Saturday of the month prior to use after individual registration.
From the nearest station, it is about a 7-minute walk after getting off at Minami Tama Station on the JR Nambu Line. The city circulation bus will take you right after getting off at “Shiroyama Koen Minami” stop. Parking lots (for a fee) are available for approximately 60 cars on the Central Library side and 10 cars on the tennis court side.
