Located in Kita-ku, Tokyo, this park is one of the oldest parks in Japan along with Ueno Park, Shiba Koen, and Fukagawa Park, which were designated by a proclamation of the Grand Council of State in 1873.

The park is home to 650 cherry trees, including Someiyoshino and Satozakura, 15,000 azaleas of about 10 varieties, 1,300 hydrangeas, and many other flowers.

The cherry trees in full bloom in the cherry blossom season are magnificent, but the late-blooming double-flowered cherry trees such as Kanzan, Fukurokuju, and Ukon along the road leading from Oji Station to the three museums in the park (Asukayama Museum, Paper Museum, and Shibusawa Historical Museum) are also beautiful.

Also worth seeing are the rare cherry trees planted near the Paper Museum, such as the Gyoiko cherry trees, which are light green in the beginning and gradually turn reddish.

With the museum and various other facilities, this is a place where families can enjoy themselves all day long.

Nearby is the Old Furukawa Garden, which combines a Western garden with a Japanese garden.
