This is a row of cherry blossom trees that starts near Myogadani Station in Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo and continues toward Koishikawa Botanical Garden.

It was named “Harimasaka” after the residence of Matsudaira Harimamori, who once lived here, and about 150 cherry trees were planted for the first time when the slope was paved in 1960.

Since then, the local people have nurtured this magnificent row of cherry trees, many of which are more than 40 years old, and you can enjoy the vigorous and large cherry trees. There are also rare cherry trees such as the Ukon cherry tree, which is also called “yellow cherry tree” and has pale yellowish green flowers.

During the Bunkyo Sakura Festival, one of the five major festivals of Bunkyo flowers, the roadway along the rows of cherry trees is open to pedestrians on any Saturday or Sunday during the festival period.

This is especially popular with families, as they can see the rows of cherry trees up close and there are also events for children. The University of Tokyo Botanical Garden and Tokyo Dome are located nearby.
